<image:title>Let's Go Anacostia Message Board - Tink, Tink, Tink! Don’t Play With Our Babies. - What’s at Stake!</image:title>
<image:caption>Essential early childhood programs will close Educator positions will be eliminated Working parents will lose dependable child care, leaving families scrambling for stability. Students will lose consistent, high‑quality support that keeps them on track academically and emotionally. Early Childhood Education classrooms will be consolidated, overcrowding rooms and reducing the attention our youngest learners need. Reading Interventionists will no longer be able to step in when a child shows signs of struggle, because they are losing their jobs. LEAP Reading Coaches will be eliminated, leaving early childhood educators with fewer tools, fewer mentors, and fewer supports to elevate their classrooms.</image:caption>

My alma mater, Bowie State University, was founded to provide opportunities for African Americans to receive a higher education when other institutions prohibited their academic pursuits. Our civil right to be educated, to pursue our dreams, and to provide opportunities for others to flourish continues. And when we come together, invest, and make opportunities accessible for our young people to reach their highest potential, the more we will continue to break the systems that were designed to keep marginalized people in bondage. I am honored to continue the fight for educational equality and be the Project Director of CARE Anacostia. To learn more about me, visit: Jhonnaamelia.com</image:caption>

<image:caption>Member of SE DC (Ward 7) for almost three decades. Business owner and entrepreneur. The disparity in the quality of education in DC became very apparent when our daughter started school in the early 2000s. After spending two years in a SE DCPS school, we participated in the school lottery, and spent the following 8 years commuting across town to schools in Ward 3. We then homeschooled our daughter for 4 years when she was in high school. I’m invested in finding solutions that help children get the best education experience possible near where they live. I’m gifted in hospitality and have the privilege of serving my church community, Anacostia River Church, in various ways.
